Being lazy? You? Nah. Must've been Google was down just when you kept
trying to look, right? A Google search shows that for users where the
feature is lost that they should try running:

regsvr32 zipfldr.dll

So unregistering that DLL should remove zip folder support provided by
Windows. Run "regsvr32 /?" for help.

By the way, I also use WinZip and have no problems using it in addition
to WinZip.

Select Run from the Start Menu...

Type: regsvr32 /u zipfldr.dll at the prompt, and click Ok.

Type: regsvr32 /u cabview.dll at the prompt, and click Ok.

The change will take effect immediately, but you may have to restart Windows
for all traces of the built-in ZIP support to disappear.

Click Start/Run, enter the string below, and click OK:
regsvr32 /u zipfldr.dll

You should receive a dialog that says "DllUnregisterServer in zipfldr.dll
succeeded."

To restore the default behavior, go to Start/Run and type in:
regsvr32 zipfldr.dll

I don't know why I have that in my Turn off XP's built-in support for ZIP
files notes.

Anyway, I have searching within archives turned off. :)
