Keyboard

I keep my computer when not in use in standby mode, and occasionaly when I
bring it out of standby mode, and want to use the keyboard to send E-Mail or
other functions the computer does not recognize the keyboard and I have to
restart the computer and then the keyboard works...any thoughts of why the
computer refuses to recognize my keyboard, I have changed Keyboards with the
same results I have xp with service pack 3.

Is this an Intel-based system? If so, did you already install the
Intel Chipset Software Installation utility?

USB or P/S2? If it's a USB, try unplugging it and plugging it back in.

Hi Dalen (or is it Herb),

As Tom pointed out, if it's a USB keyboard, try unplugging it and
plugging it back in (small rectangular plug). If it's a PS/2 (round
usually purple coded), DO NOT unplug it with the computer on.

I have found Standby to have varying degrees of success. Some
workstations do it well, others not at all. You may be better served
changing the computer to not go into Standby and possibly just have your
monitor and hard drives shut down at a specified time.

The connection on the motherboard is probably failing. Try a USB keyboard to
test. If all is well, then run with that keyboard instead.
