just reloaded Windows Xp and the numeric keys on the right
do not work. The Number lock is on and the numbers work on
the upper main part of the keyboard.

Make sure that your accessibility options are ok by going to Start >
Settings > Control Panel > Accessibility Options > Mouse Tab > Uncheck "Use
Mouse Keys" if it is checked. Outside of that, I would say try a different
keyboard to see if it works.
