keyboard typing backwards after reinstall of win xp

i know this is a dumb question but i've recently reinstalled win xp and my
keyboard is backwards wot have i done wrong for eg this is the @ key " and
this is the" key@ results.
 
It looks as though you have another (probably American) keyboard layout set
in Windows.
In control panel , regional and language options, language tab there is a
details button. Press this and you will be able to change your default
keyboard settings. Change this to English for an English keyboard.
