I have some strange problems with my Keyboard Characters since the
reinstallation of Windows XP with sp3 to my PC after the replacing of faulty
mother board of the PC. When I press the shift key for special characters, it
is found that the output of some of the special characters are changed and
mutually transferred and one character is replaced with a new one. For eg. @
is mutually transferred with “ and # is replaced with the new £ .
I checked it with character map and on-screen keyboard. In the on-screen
keyboard the above mentioned special characters are seen changed and the
keyboard is working accordingly. I changed my keyboard with another one and
now I am using a new one. I uninstalled sp3 and checked. I Uninstalled
keyboard driver and reinstalled (manufacturer). The result is the same. So I
again checked with a live Linux CD and found that my keyboard is OK. No
problem in the Linux. My conclusion is that something happened in the
character setting of my Windows XP. I refered a number of threads but I
have't got a satisfactory answer. Can you help me to rectify the defect
without reinstalling Windows XP with sp3.
Thanking you.
