Keyboard status in Taskbar?

This may seem like a strange question, but I bought a Microsoft 4000
wireless keyboard. I like it very much, but it has one huge defect--no
indicator lights to show shift lock and num lock status. When I am going
to enter a password I have to open some text program or other to make
sure the shift lock is off. Is there some well hidden gimmick in XP that
will show the status in the task bar, or perhaps some third party
program that might do the same thing? Looking around in retail shops, it
looks to me like this is standard for all wireless keyboards. Thanks for
any advice.

Did you install the support software ( Intellitype 6.1 is the latest ).
Most wireless keyboards employ a screen display that overlays
the screen with "Caps Lock On..." but for this functionality to work
you have to install the vendor specific software. I use a Logitech
Wireless keyboard it doesn't have embedded LEDs that illuminate
when Cap/Num lock is toggled, but displays on the screen instead.

Latest Intellitype ( for XP 32-bit is found at ):

Depending on the type of wireless keyboard...I expect, but my wireless MS
Intellitype Desktop Elite KB has the receiver that has the caps/scroll/num
lock indicator leds and the driver/software also echos to the screen the
status of those keys when pressed.

All you need do is have the receiver in an accessible place you can glance
at it and see the status of the caps/scroll/num keys.

I see that my receiver also has those lights, but because of space
limitations I can't locate it in an easily-seen spot Thanks for the
reply. And to Tech Support--the dk program works like a charm; I'll add
it to my startup list.
