keyboard shortcut for numbered outline

Check out Pat Cortez answer of 12/22. Upon original instilation of Word 2003
I also could use Tab promote and Shift Tab to decrease left margin, and then
all of a sudden they didn't work any more. Now I have to mouse up to the top
and click increase indent, and that does not restart numbering for sub
titles, so I get 1) xxx a.xxx, 2)xxx b.xxx, 3)xxx c.xxx. There must be a
reset somewhere???
 
On the the AutoFormat As You Type tab of Tools | AutoCorrect Options, check
the box for "Set first- and left-indent with tabs and backspaces."
