-Keyboard Problems-

My Microsoft Mulitmedia Keyboard no longer works. In the device manager it
says
"The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)"
I have tried ps/2 and usb keyboards to try to get it to work, but none work.
When i restart my computer I can hold keys to open the advance option reboot
thing. I can go through and select safe mode, etc, with the keyboard. Once it
gets to the windows log in screen the keyboard becomes useless.

Any suggestions would be greatful. I would like to avoid formating due to
the fact i lost my operating CD. Unless I can download Windows Media Center
Edition and still have it valid with my code.
-thanks-

Try booting with last known good configuration.

You should be able to get a copy of MCE from your computer maker. What
brand is your computer?

Then the drivers are probably damaged, as suggested by the error
message. Use the mouse to go into the Device Manager, locate the
keyboard and remove it. Restart the computer and it should be found,
and the kb reinstalled. If you have a CD with drivers for that kb, run it.
Any suggestions, I would be grateful. I would like to avoid formatting due to

No, you'd have to purchase a CD or DVD of WMC, and enter its new code.

I get the same error message for my PS/2 ergonomic Microsoft "Natural
Keyboard" ( part number 59758 ) that apparently was built by Logitech in a
bygone era. A friend's usb keyboard works fine, but the PS/2 board I like
has a green light and no response. OK, lets see if deinstalling the driver
and rebooting does more than advance the clock. It is better than the dearth
of ideas from my manufacturer and the microsoft web site, in that it is an
idea instead of a vacuum.
