Keyboard not working locally after a remote desktop session

Hello all,

I've recently been getting this problem on my XP32 (SP3) system. USB
keyboard.

1) I use the machine locally, everything's ok
2) I go home and use remote desktop to access the machine, everything's ok.
3) I come back to the office, logon to the machine (using the keyboard to
input the password)
4) Now, the keyboard doesn't work. (It DID work when I typed the password).
I cannot type into any application, I can't use the ALT key to
move/resize/close. No keyboard action at all. I need to reboot the machine
to get the keyboard back.

Does anyone have any ideas about what would cause this? Or where I should
start looking.

Thanks,

John.

I know you said, "I need to reboot the machine to get the keyboard back.";
but being an USB keyboard - I have to ask - does it come back if you unplug
the USB keyboard from the computer for 30+ seconds and then plug it back in
and wait a minute or so?

What if you plug it into a different port?

How many USB devices do you have plugged into the machine?

Hi Shehan,

Unplugging the keyboard and reinserting doesn't help. I still need to the
reboot.

I'll try a few more experiments (move the keyboard to a port, not a hub
etc), and post more later.
