Keyboard mouse

I have been having a problem with the cursor jumping around when typing in a
word processor or email. A local best buy geek says it's because I hit the
mouse pad in my portable by mistake. He claimed by pushing the function and
F9 key at the same time I can disable the keyboard mouse and only use my
external mouse. I've tried it and it does not work that way on either of
our two (2) Toshiba computers.

Is there a way to disable the keyboard mouse while the external mouse is
active?

thanks for the help

With a USB mouse installed, check in Device Manager how many entries for
Mouse you have... disable one of them. Of course, Toshiba might have it an
easier way.

Toshiba has a utility to disable the mousepad. Look in your Start Menu under
Toshiba to see if you can find it. It also might be in Control Panel,
possibly under Mouse. Or you can refer to a user manual (if you got one) or
to Toshiba's tech support site for your model laptop. If for some odd
reason the utility was not installed on your laptop, go to Toshiba's tech
support site and download/install it.
