keyboard and mouse dont work

im running a clean install of vista rc1 5600 and i cant get my mouse or
keyboard to detect. a friend brought over a wireless keyboard and mouse from
microsoft and it worked fine.. whats going on? Also i just want to delete
vista all together and reinstall xp with my cd. Problem is, it wont let me
run the recovery on the C drive without the admin password which i dont know,
and when i try to install xp and it says press f8 to agree to the terms, it
does nothing like f8 is disabled. Please help

To help, we'll need more information.
What are you installing Vista on (hardware)? It sounds as if you have a
mouse keyboard combination that requires special drivers? Did you check to
see if your computer is "Vista ready" by running the upgrade advisor prior
to installing?
The "my CD" you are referring to, is it a retail XP CD of a recovery CD
provided with the computer? If you have a retail XP CD (full version), you
may be able to format the partition containing Vista, then do a clean
install of XP.

Try leaving the password blank.
