You need to tell Windows you have a British keyboard/language.
Open Control Panel.
Choose Regional Options.
The actual location of the settings will depend on your version of Windows,
but in Win XP you choose the Languages tab, and click the Details button to
set your default input language.
BTW, this newsgroup is about Microsoft Access (the database). I am assuming
your question is about setting up Windows and therefore this answer will
affect all your programs.
