When I get the logon prompt for my 2000 machine. I press
Ctrl Alt Del and nothing happens. I have checked the
connections and switched out the keyboards. When I
installed 2000 to a second partition the keyboard reponds
fine. What happened? I want to boot without the ctrl alt
del. But my user icon is not showing up in control panel
help please!

To disable Ctrl Alt Del at logon, follow these steps:
START -> SETTINGS -> CONTROL PANEL -> ADMINISTRATIVE
TOOLS -> LOCAL SECURITY POLICY

Open the LOCAL POLICIES and then SECURITY OPTIONS. Find
the key DISABLE CTRL+ALT+DEL REQUIREMENT FOR LOGON, and
set it to ENABLED.
