Hi Tom,

Absolutely!
I was careless in snipping (or not snipping) and needed to have that fact
called to my attention. I appreciate it.

Well, the product key of the Win XP Professional is on the sticker on the
laptop. But when I try to install from a XP professional CD it constantly
says that the product key is invalid. Whick version of windows XP do I
have a
license for, and what can I install???!!!! Is it possible to tell from
this

This is a public forum. You have just posted all of your numbers for the

I am sure that Dell will not appreciate it.

Ok guys! I give up... I just realized that I have another windows license
copy from another machine that I don't use. So, farewell license, rest in
piece, please mold in your grave and I'll see ya and your sole in cyber
heaven...

But, another question to you guys:

Is language included in the license? E.g. can it, or any other license, be
used with any language version of windows?

The computer did NOT ship with an English version, but with a small small
language with just a few few speakers. This is interesting to know! Please
reply if you know! Somebody once said that if you install SP2 with another
language, the switch will go smoothly, but I never got it to work, and I
think he was full of shit..

Switching languages requires a clean install. I do not know if the key is
language specific.

I think you will find that XP installed on your Laptop is an OEM version AND
Dell modified the key as a condition of that purchase. When you find the key
that will work, it likely will have OEM as a part of it AND will not fully
match the key version on your sticker. All that said, there are programs
will retrieve the key used for installation. One is Everest (free). Also go
to the Dell support site to see if they can replace your restore CD.
