kernel32.dll problem

Guest

I recently installed a game (a really old one my wife likes, for some
reason). It installed fine, but when I try to run it, I get:

Unable to link to kernel32.dll

Upon clicking on that, I get another window stating that:

Application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000142). Click on OK to
terminate the application.

I've searched my HDD, and kernel32.dll is there. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Chuck

Inform the maker of the game of your problem and they will most probably help
you out... If the game caused the problem it is their duty, because it is
most probably a bug in the game

Did you notice that the OP referred to the game as "a really old one?"
Do you stand by the advice you gave the OP?

Chuck, the error message you are getting is typical for an older game.
You may find a patch at the website of the gamemaker, if they are still in
business.
Also, you may be able to get Windows to run the game in Compatibility Mode.
Go to Help and Support, and type in "compatibility."

The only way his posts will get any better is if we break his keyboard
over his head!

I doubt it. After all, he "owns" The Technology Store Australia!
I say we cut off his hands, for starters.

Yes, I do. It's on old Disney game from 96 (!!!) I'll try that compatibility
fix as well.
