Kernel-Mode Printers and Windows Server 2003

In Windows Server 2003, you can not use Kernel-Mode print drivers, for good
reason.

However, if the printer manufactor only supplies those, what can you do?

I have already reveiwed 282011.

How can you change the policy, if you wanted to?

You can disable that in group policy.

Start->run->gpedit.msc

The policy is defined under Computer Configuration->Administrative
Templates->Printers

Look for the setting "Disallow installation of printers using kernel-mode
drivers". It should be 'Not Configured' (it's enabled by default). Set it
to 'disable'.

Thanks. That will only be used as a last resort if I can not get the printer
and print server to work otherwise.
