keeping files when upgrading

is there a way to upgrade to windows xp from windows ME
and keep the files on my computer without having to burn
all to disks, etc?
 
Yes, you can do an upgrade install of WindowsXP...but honestly you're
probably better off backing up your files and doing a clean install of XP.
