Keep losing internet connection

I keep losing my internet connection. If the computer is just sitting on for
a short time and then I go to access the internet it times out, I get the
page cannot be displayed message and I have to reboot the computer. I
checked the cable modem and all the lights are on except for the PC
connection. I reset the cable modem but that doesn't work but when I reboot
the connection comes back for a short while. Is there a problem with the
operating system that keeps losing the connection?

I had something similar - it turned out to be a worm that was hijacking my
connection after a couple of minutes. I was then unable to connect at all
without re booting nly for the same thing to happen. No virus scans, or Ad
Aware or Spybot found anything. Only by looking at Zonealarm which was
blocking endless attempt to connect to the internet did I realise what it
was. Solution was a total re format and re install. May not be your problem
but sounds similar. If you have a firewall check its log.
