Losing Internet Connection

I recently changed computers to a HP Pavillion a1410n. The computer is wired
to a router and a second computer is networked wirelessly. Since getting the
new computer I frequently (almost daily) lose the internet connection and
have to shut down the two computers, disconnect and reconnect the cable modem
and router and restart the computers. This problem occurs overnight and
appears to be related to the HP going into "sleep" mode.
Can anyone suggest how I might overcome this problem?

Ensure the HP network device is not set to power off (Device Manager,
properties for device, Power Management)
