keep getting error report when i try installing msn messenger

can sum one help me i keep getting error report when i try installing msn
messenger and also why cant i use system restore to make my computer the way
it used to be when i first got it. i can only restore it to a certain point.
help me sum one please

Probably because windows messenger is installed and running,the two
aren't really compatable.Try add/remove programs,windows components,
uncheck the box for messenger,close out restart computer,install msn.
With all the xp updates and diffrent software installations youve probably
added,how could youre computer revert back to oem condition.To do that,
you;d need to run the oem recovery disk if it came with one,or boot to
xp cd,reinstall a clean version of xp.

Someone can surely help you if you give the "error report" you are getting
(exact message) when you attempt to install MSN Messenger.

System Restore is exactly what it does - it restores your SYSTEM files (not
your applications, not your files) to an earlier date. Depending on your
settings and the size of your hard drive - that date is limited to "so far
back" - simply because sooner or later the last restore point written will
over-write the first one written. Lots of good links from here:
