KB913670

I cannot install the windows update described in KB913670. Here's the description, "Australia changed the regularly scheduled end of Daylight Saving Time (DST) in five states due to the 2006 Commonwealth Games. Microsoft issued an update to adjust those settings. This update will return your computer to the correct DST settings for those time zones by removing the previous update. After you run this item, you may have to restart your computer."

I think the install is failing because it cannot find the previous update mentioned above that it is trying to remove. I periodically delete the update backups that are compressed and stored in the windoes fodler. Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Phil

Hopefully a solution will be found. Keep an eye on the above thread. In the meantime I've hidden the update to stop it looping over and over again. Manual install doesn't work either.

The way I did, since it was already dowloaded, I shut off automatic updates,
but be sure to go to MS updates to keep up with new updates. If this one
shows up again, do not check it so it goes into hidden updates on the MS
update download web site.

When the icon appears in the tray with updates ready to install, open it as normal, select custom install, then you can uncheck the offending update and then be given the option to hide it.
or
Go to the Windows Update site, there you can click on the [+] next to the item description and then check the "don't show me this update again" box, and Windows update/Automatic Updates will be hidden and not offered unless you unhide it.

That way you still get any updates WU is offering that are available, without the necessity of turning WU off.

Hope this helps.
