KB824145

Downloaded and installed this "critical update" from Windows ME update site.
When windows restarted, I got several warnings during startup: "Windows
could not upgrade the file %1 from %2
%1 : %2
Windows may not start properly. If windows does not start properly, run
setup again. Press any key to continue."
Windows does start normally but it shows KB 824145 is not installed. I tried
this process several times without any change. Did I miss something? Please
advise. Thanks.

Thanks, Frank, but no joy here.
I downloaded the update to the desktop, started in safe mode. Still same
indications.
I reregistered regsvr32: inseng.dll, oleaut32.dll, ole32.dll, mssip32.dll,
mshtml.dll, actxprxy.dll, shell32.dll, shdocvw.dll, and ran scanreg. All ran
ok. I cleared temporary internet files, same indications. No help in
troubleshooting addresses you cited. Any other ideas?
Thanks again

Sorry, that's it.
