I posted this a couple of days ago on the IE6
administration site and got no responses - I keep getting
kb831167 (an auto-download) to install on my Compac 5461
w/ WinME and IE6. I install it and after restart I get
this:

"Windows could not upgrade the file %1 from %2
%1: %2 (repeats several times)
Windows could not upgrade one or more system files before
starting. Windows may not start or run properly. If
Windows fails to start, run SETUP again. Press any key to
continue."

When I press a key it continues through a normal startup.
I use McAfee virus protection. I regularly update it and
recently ran a full scan that came up clean. I don't know
if this download is important or I should just ignore it.
I've tried searching the archives for this but I can't
find anything. Any suggestions? Thanks - Dale
