kazaa myshared folder deleted

G

George Millard

MS antispyware removed kazaa and all files including my
shared folder with all my MP3 files. I had placed kazaa
as IGNORE THREAT but it didn't work. There is no undo or
restore functionality that i could find. How can I
recover the deleted files from this particular folder?
Anyone can help? Tks.

You need to immediately get a data recovery solution--the sort of thing that
is needed if you have deleted files.

There are a number of these--I don't know of effective free ones, but the
commercial ones will give a clear indication of their likelyhood of success
before you lay out money for them.

The reports here are mixed--a number of failure reports, but plun, in
particular, states that he has had success.

Assuming Windows XP.

Do you have first-hand experience with SR bringing back MP3 files?

Yes...
An SR point *prior* to the mess, ostensibly will _Restore everything.

Hmm.
Maybe a few strategic system files, but I'll bet my next
break it won't restore anybody's .mp3's (or docs or txt
or...etc etc).
And I sure wouldn't recommend it as a way of undeleting any
files.

I stand corrected.

Thanks.

SR is one of the early things that many folks try in the position the OP on
this thread is in. My feeling is that this likely greatly exacerbates the
problem, rather than improves it.

It isn't going to bring back data (i.e. MP3's) and it is going to churn the
disk and make it less and less likely that deleted files will be
recoverable.

Be thankful it deleted that malware infested pirate
program. Kazaa is nothing but a pipeline for viruses and
malware. Sounds like Anti Spyware is doing it's job. Go
Microsoft! :)

Well, maybe MSAS also should remove the biggest pipeline
for malvare, Outlook Express ? And also remove all
mails.......... !?

Yes they should,
but they will not, as everybody will use gmail then,
because that gives a little more storage space, if you
can't save mails on your hard disk anymore. :)
