kaspersky + NAV2004

Paul

Just downloaded a trial version of kaspersy av home and installed it on my
laptop which also has nav 2004 running on it. I disabled nav and installed
kaspersky, it seemed to load ok but when I opened internet explorer it
opened pages very slowly and as soon as the page loaded fully, it closed on
its own. even disabling kaspersy made no difference. uninstalling kaspersy
was the only way to get the system working ok. I know you should only have
one av program installed but I am reluctant to remove nav unless I know for
sure kaspersky will work. does anyone have any idea's as to
a) why explorer loads pages very slowly (almost as if kaspersky is scanning
the page as it download.
and b) why explorer closes on its own after loading?

Paul.

System info

acer aspire 1350
winxp home with sp2 installed
adaware, nav2004, norton firewall installed.

I had the same exact problem with personal pro 4.5.
Kaspersky support (absolutely superb, other software companies, please
copy) gave the following advice. Use at your own risk ;)

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is a problem when Norton has been on the system - it doesn't
return the registry to the correct Windows file - instead they point
to a Symantec file.

Scriptchecker Error
If you have Kaspersky 4.x then follow part 1 - if you are running KAV
5.0 then skip to Part 2 immediately

Part 1
----------
Can you go to Control Panel->Add/Remove Programs and highlight the
Kaspersky and click on Change/Remove, then select Modify when the
wizard starts.

You will see a list of the Kav Components - untick Kav Scriptchecker,
then ok and finish the wizard.

Reboot pc.
================================================================

Part 2
--------
Now go to Start->Search->All files/Folders and look for jscript.dll
and make a note of where it is - normally in C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32.

Now go to Start->Run->and type in Regedit.
Once the screen opens go to Edit->Find and type in scrauth.dll and
untick the "Match whole string only" box.
Then press Find Next - it can take a while to check the registry so
please be patient.
it should find the "key" as their known at:-

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{f414c260-6ac0-11cf-b6d1-00aa00bbbb58}\InprocServer3
2
and it will appear as:-

ab (Default)                      "C:\PROGRAM FILES\COMMON
FILES\SYMANTEC SHARED FILES\scrauth.dll"
ab Threading Model          "Both"

You need to right click on the ab (default) and select MODIFY.
Now you need to delete all text here and type in the correct path to
jscript.dll as it appears on YOUR pc, for example:-

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\JSCRIPT.DLL

Then press OK and it will appear next to the ab (default) now in ""
marks.

Go to Edit and press Find Next and search in case there are more
entries if there are edit in the same way then exit from the registry
and reboot.
============================================================================
==

Only for version 4.x
--------------------------

Once the system is back up go to Control Panel->Add/Remove Programs
and again highlight Kaspersky, and Modify and retick the Scriptchecker
component.
============================================================================
======
Reboot pc and you should not get any more errors.
