Justify not working?

I have Word 2000 and have tried to justify existing Documents. If I select
the page or paragraph, and press the justify button, are the left and right
sides supposed to be even. If so, mine doesn't work. It seems to be fine if
I start a new document with the justify button already pressed. Any
thoughts? Any info ro help is greatly appreciated. thanks, Don

Hi, Don,

Just a guess... Possibly in the existing documents there may be a
paragraph mark at the end of each line. That would prevent any of them
from appearing justified.

Click the ¶ button on the toolbar. If that ¶ symbol appears at the end
of each line, you need to get rid of all the ones that aren't actually
at the ends of paragraphs. For steps to do that easily, see
