so I did the chat with the phone company and got no where! they said my port
is blocked or I have firewall issues or software problems (The connection to
the server has failed. Account: 'pop3.frontiernet.net', Server:
'pop3.frontier.com', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Socket
Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E) Okay so only the one port is blocked
any clue on how to unblock it so I can get email? thanks :)

Port 110 is never blocked.
However, this problem may be caused by interference from an antivirus
program. Which antivirus are you running?
As a minimum, email scanning in the antivirus should be turned off,
although that may not be sufficient to eliminate all bad effects.
In a worst case scenario, your antivirus may need to be uninstalled.

Email scanning in any antivirus should be disabled, for reasons
explained here:
http://thundercloud.net/infoave/tutorials/email-scanning/index.htm

If no improvement after disabling email scanning, consider upgrading
to Windows Live Mail, because it is less prone to suffering bad effects
from overly intrusive antivirus programs:

I have unistalled Mcafee (last week) and I have Windows live mail also with
the same error. I am frustrated that it works on every computer other than
my laptop. I did recently have to reinstall windows and this is when it all
started :( The tech at frontier said it might be the firewall or program I
am running?

If you are use Windows Firewall, it never blocks email. I don't know what
other program the Frontier tech may be referring to. However, any third party
security program (antivirus, anti-spyware, firewall) can interfere with email.

Please note that an uninstall of McAfee must be followed up by using
their debris removal tool:

Floyd, I see you posted with a Yahoo email address. Is that your only email
address? US-based free Yahoo accounts have webmail access only, no
POP access. Windows Mail handles POP mail but not Yahoo webmail.
Yahoo's solution is to pay them for premium "Mail Plus" service:
http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/mail/original/mailplus/overview/index.html
and use the special settings for that service:
http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/mail/original/mailplus/pop/pop-14.html

If you are OK with using a non-Yahoo email address, you have these other
solutions that will work with Windows Mail:
* Use the email address assigned to you by your ISP.
* Use a free Gmail, AOL, or Hotmail/Live account.

You can also continue to use Yahoo's webmail: http://mail.yahoo.com
If you need more help with any of these solutions, just ask.

Uninstalled McAfee, delelted accounts, restarted mail recreated account, and
still got this error. Is there anthing else I can do to solve this?

Unable to send or receive messages for the Citlink (shisey) account. The
connection to the server has failed.

Server: 'pop3.frontier.com'
Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800CCC0E
Protocol: POP3
Port: 110
Secure(SSL): No
Socket Error: 10060

Thanks!!

Your mail settings appear to be correct.
It still looks like you are getting interference from a security program.
Did you use the special McAfee removal tool I mentioned previously?

Are you running any other third party security programs such as a
anti-spyware or firewall?

I want to thank you for all the help. I did do everything you said, and got
it figured out. I was a firewall on my modem/router! Thank you so much for
all the help!!!
