JPG files veerryyy slloooowww to open

NOW (as in it didn't happen before) when I open a JPG file with MS
Office Picture Manager it takes 25 seconds for it to open.
Once opened and browsing there is no problem.
If I close it and double click another JPG it takes 25 sec again.

If I use Windows Picture and FAX Viewer it is instantaneous every
time.

If I use ACDSEE it is about 1 sec after the first time I open a JPG
file with it. (ACDSEE closed but still in memory).

How do I troubleshoot this?
Anyone run into this issue?

might it be related to a Stop error D1 fix WindowsXP-KB916595?

I recently installed that.

thx

Thanks for the info. Looks like there is an MS-KB also.

It seems that I opened a file on my wifes computer last night.
Since her computer is off now, PM just hung till it decided it wasn't
going to get an answer.

I just deleted the CAG file.
