JPEGS versus BITMAPS. tried everything!

Alright, I feel like I am the number one computer illiterate person in
existence or something. I have had issues with the whole "img saving only as
bitmap" for a couple weeks now. tonight I did the whole emptying of every
temporary internet folder that exists---to no avail (same with the "view
objects" route). then I even tried another XP user's suggestion to go to
start-->explore-->head to local settings via another administrative
account-->delete my temp files from there. That didnt work either. it just
repeatedly told me that I cannot delete these folders for one of two reasons
(it kept changing its mind on the reason) "cannot acces folder cos other
program is using it" OR "windows needs this folder to operate cannot delete".
thats it. nada! still did nothing. well not quite nothing. it did manage to
make it so that for about one second it let me try and save something as JPEG
OR BITMAP. then it decided nevermind, and went to offering me PNG or
BITMAP...then just BITMAP again.

what. in. the. world. am. I. doing. wrong?

Hi,

Try starting the computer in safe mode. Do not start any application. then
try deleting the temporary internet files. also delete the files from this
folder %temp%.

At the run command type this command %temp% and then a folder will open.
delete all the files from this folder.

you would also want to increase the size of the temporary internet folder.to
do this go to tools | Internet options and then select settings and then
increase the slider to increase the size of the folder.

As the usual cause of files being saved as bmp only is that the TIF is set too large. Therefore it is bad advice to say increase the size.
