Icons On Desktop

Using XP Home.Loaded some software that required me to load my XP CD so it
create Recovery Centre.Now I am left with icons all over my desktop that end
in .KIT,.PRE,.JPEG,.BITMAP,.SettingsDefaultault Nortons,05_fn_bg.Not matter
what i try i cannot delete them.Have scanned for viruses etc nothing
found.Please help.Thanks.Norman

What program/software did you install?
You could attempt a Restore to a time before the mess, or if you have a
known good backup image you could restore it.
Otherwise you could take your chances on not corrupting your system by
booting to Safe Mode and Removing the files.
