joystick stuffs up

I brought a new joystick(Thrustmaster top gun fox 2 pro shock)from
harveynorman it worked perfectly for about a week then it stopped working
completely I took it back to harveynorman and they tested it on there
machine and it worked perfectly when I took it home it worked for a while
then stopped it now keeps on randomly working or not working does any one no
how to fix this

I have a
AMD Athlon Processor
1.06 GHz
512MB of RAM

Microsoft Windows XP Proffessional version 2002 Service pack 1

Might be a bad cable or connector, but before going back and getting
rude, try installing and running a file called "joystart" first.
Sometimes modern digital sticks don't quite initialize right on
bootup, and it doesn't respond well or at all. Run it from the
startup at boot, and see if it helps at all. I had to do this with my
old Cyborge 3D joystick. Oh... Right... Here's a link to where you
