Have noticed that my DELL PC 3.6GHZ with 1gb of RAM freezes when I go
to a page (in IE ver 6 SP2) that requires Java or if I go to control
panel and select Java Plug in and try to make some changes. Note:
Windows XP Home - SP2
I have SUN 1.4.2 Java installed and there are also 2 entries in VIEW
OBJECTS listed in IE.
I upgraded to SUN 1.5 and same thing happens so I uninstalled it and
reinstalled 1.4.2.
I unchecked the box in Internet Options Advanced that says to use Sun
Jave and rebooted and same thing occurs.
Cleared caches, and so on. Have 3rd party browser extensions unchecked
as well as On Demand installs.
Have installed a new NVIDIA video driver but that did not help.
I tired to install the old Microsoft JVM but that did not seemt to work
either.
Something is strange here. Have another home PC with no such problems.
Tried a restore of my image (I use Acronis True Image) but that did not
help.
I of course have HiJack This, Spyblasster, AdAware, SpyBot, AVG
anti-virus, a firewall from Sygate, RegVac, RegCleaner, a router, no
sharing, no P2P stuff. Machine is clean as a whistle.
Any ideas to get rid of the freezing is appreciated.
****I can always make it happen if I go to Start, Control Panel, Java
Plug in--make a few changes and click on OK. Immediate freeze requiring
forced shutdown.
If I go to some sites which requires Java, PC will freeze after a few
moments or mouse clicks.
Thanks so much
