Javascript problems

I have windows XP Pro SP2 and I can't see javascript on my computer while
browsing. I have tried a ton of stuff and I have come to the conclusion it
has to do with win xp pro sp2 as I have win xp pro sp1 one on another system
and I can see all java script. I have a notebook with win 2000 and I can see
javascript.

I installed the latest sun java and it freezes the IE 6 browser I have Suns
J2SE Runtime enviroment 5.0 update 5 installed

I have enabled jave in IE and I have cleared the cache

I have no idea what else to do Please help as I'm at my wits end with this
problem going on for 3 months now.

Thanks (I should just scrap Microsoft Products as I have nothing but
problems with them. I used to use OS/2 No flaws or crashes and I have tried
Linux and seems to work well.)

Java and javascript are different animals. Difficulties running either
one have nothing to do with SP2. SP2 has been out for nearly 2 years
and since everybody else can run javascript, something is wrong on your
machine. You probably have some third-party software that has blocked
javascript. Since only you can see what you have installed, you will
need to examine any security programs - antivirus, "internet security",
firewalls, antispyware programs, etc.

Do the problems exist if you try a different browser such as Firefox?

Certainly you can try Linux, but this is not a newsgroup about that.

and have turned off the fire wall but no go.

thing is that if you were posting using a real newsreader you would see

what it means to help and not insult people.

Don't tell me how to post a message and what good posting skills are as
thoughs links have nothing too do with helping. I have been in communications
for many year say 15+ and the way you come across in your messages as a know
it all that has nothing better to do then try to instigate a problem.

I asked for help not for someone to tell me there is no problems with SP2
that it is my fault and that others are using it without problems for nearly
2 years. Who are you Bill Gates trying to make people buy into it that his
programms are bug free?

You should assume people don't know what they talking about just because

Hello David

I know that but for some strange reason people her are always telling people
here to get the latest version of Suns Java. So I tried all the stuff here
but Javascript doesn't work and why would it when Java has nothing to do with
javascript.

It seems there is a lot of people complaining about when installing service
pack 2 that javascript went away and doesn't work but from people posting
replies to me I'm the only one in the 2 year history of the service pack 2
release to have this problem. You could see why I would be ticked at a person
just adding fuel to a fire.

yes and they are all set right. I went to some test pages and it says the
javascript is working well but it seems to not like certain things like
something is blocking it. I'm going to try and remove programms and see what
happens as I can't get it to work in firefox either.
