I went to a web site and it said I needed Java.
I searched for Java and went to the Win XP SP 2 site to download it.
It directed me to Sun Micro Systems for the download.
Is it safe to download and use?
What is it and what is it for?
Thank you

I went through this site. Did the online installation. Very fast. But the
verify installation just keeps going on and on like that pink bunny.

What next???

Regards,

Paul

If the picture/animation never comes up that says 'you have the latest
version' or such, it didn't install properly OR you need to reboot for it to
finish.
If all else fails, click the manual download link and follow the
instructions.

Hello,
I just redid the same processes and now java works. I could see the java
calender on a web site. When I tried to run the automatic install another
time I was told that Java was already there and it suggested to uninstall.
Over my dead body. If it is there I will give it a try. The verify button
congratulated me on having the lastest Sun Java and I immediately went to try
my brand new Java tool to use that infamous calender... I would have saved
how much time by just typing in the date? But I would not have java on my
computer.

Thanks for all the various messages that made me feel less isolated with my
problem and eventually helped me to use a java applet.
