java problem - red "x"

R

Rae

Good Afternoon All,

I am getting a red X instead of a java applet. I checked
the Sun site and found the resolution...BUT..I am unable
to follow their instructions.

They tell me it's a browser problem and to open the
internet options and check the proxy settings on my
CONNECTIONS tab. I don't have a CONNECTION tab. Does
anyone know another way to access the LAN settings?

No connection tab on IE6 Internet Options Dialogue box? Have some sort of
restriction?

See here for that absence of a connections tab.

Remember this, Modifying the registry can cause serious problems that may
require you to reinstall your operating system. We cannot guarantee that
problems resulting from modifications to the registry can be solved. Use the
information provided at your own risk.

Make sure to *export* the key first, so as to have a way to return the
Registry to it's prior state in the event you make a serious mistake.

FYI: I use Sun Java and in the connections tab I have it configured to
automatically detect settings (DSL /LAN internet connection) and don't have
any proxy set-up configured.
