java doesn't work

Hi,
Recap... Java works. Javascript works. The latest/last version (3810) of
MSJVM appears to be installed. Java chat apps won't work.

Internet Options> Advanced> put a check by Java (Sun)- uncheck MS VM. Try
one of the troublesome sites. Then try the opposite. Uncheck Java (Sun.)

Internet Options> Privacy, as a test, try the slider at Low or Accept All
(cookies.)

Try clearing the IE cache. IE> Tools> Internet Options> General> Delete
files (and delete offline content when that dialog pops up) Set the cache
(Temporary Internet Files folder) at 50-60 MB.

Go to http://www.fiddlertool.com/useragent.aspx Copy and paste the headers
info into reply.
Example:
Connection=Keep-AliveAccept=*/*
Accept-Language=en-us
Host=www.fiddlertool.com
User-Agent=Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows 98; Win 9x 4.90;

So... If you visit http://www.java.com/en/download/help/testvm.xml do you
see "Dancing Duke" to indicate that Java is working?

Do you, by now, have several listings for Java/JRE in Add/remove programs?

XP SP2, right? Did Microsoft JVM install successfully? Run the JVIEW command
(See: http://inetexplorer.mvps.org/answers/14.html ) What version of MSJVM
is indicated?

Hi Don,
Nope the flash is working. When I also try to get into one of my scrapping
chat rooms, it says my brower does not support java, and to please
install
it.
I have it installed, but it's still not working. During one of
Mcaffe's
many
downloads to my computer, I no longer can see if java is blocked because
nothing is listed. I would uninstall and reinstall, but it was a
download
off
the site. And it's due to expire this month, but that's not my worry. It's
the java not functioning in the IE.
Thanks for all your help so far.
Can you think of anything else?
I'd get in touch with Sun and tell them of the problem, but no where I their
site do I see any support of any kind.
thanks,
Maisie
:
Hi,
Thanks for your patience. ;-)

The tour at http://www.hgtv.com/ requires Macromedia Flash. That's
what
the
ActiveX warning is about.

So, a third-party security program may be blocking Flash. Flash may
not
be
installed or it may be broken.

Start at http://www.macromedia.com/ Look for the "Download Flash Player"
link.

I checked the java script. I guess it running, and I answered the
questions
on the quiz right! WooHoo!
I have everything possible checked enabled. go to HGTV, and see if
you
can
take the tour of the home. I can't. I get a red X.
Does not having a cache for the java maybe have anything to do
with it
not
working?
Don't worry about losing track.... I'll wait forever if need be. I want to
fix this.
Thanks,
Maisie

Hi,
A third-party (security) program may be causing this. I'd lke to see what's
running. Go to Start> Programs> Accessories> System tools> System
information. Expand Software Environment then select Running Tasks. Click in
the right pane then Ctrl+a (select all) Ctrl+c (copy) paste that list into a
reply.

Hope this helps,

I am having this same EXACT problem recently. I just bought a new computer,
tried going to a game website (pogo.com) it said I needed to update Java.
somehow I deleted it and tried to download from SunJava site. Same error
messages coming up and evidently there IS a problem with XP SP2 users. But it
is a new computer and I have no idea how to fix tihs or get Java installed.

Did you get this fixed?

No, I never did get it fixed...
There is a patch somewhere in this thread...
I tried it, but it didn't work for me.
I downloaded Firefox, when I need Java.
If you ever get it fixed let me know....OK?

After I posted here last night I did download the 1.5.05 version of Java and
it worked!!! HOwever I got a message in taskbar of updates...so I downloaded
the updates for Java and it is back to not working...so I'm guessing I have
to NOT download updates?? I am going to redownload 1.5 tonight and see if
that is the problem

Unfortunately this didnt work...reinstalling. I am still getting erros again.
I do have the 1.5.0 version. Don't understand what the problem is...worked
