Java Applets on Yahoo chat

Greetings --

Sun's version of Java is somewhat "generic," designed to work on a
wide variety of platforms and operating systems. Microsoft modified
it's version of Java (included under a license from Sun) to add
features and optimize it's functionality with Windows and Internet
Explorer. Many web sites accordingly configured their Java applets to
function best with Microsoft's version of Java, rather than Sun's more
pedestrian - if more universally accepted - version.

Sun Java may not be the default Virtual Machine. Go into the Control Panel,
click on Add or Remove Programs, Set Program Access and Defaults. Expand the
Custom list and change your 'default virtual machine for Java' to whatever
machine you want to use.

If that doesn't work, try fiddling around with Java in the Control Panel.

Can't say. Have you asked Yahoo about this? Perhaps they need to
update their servers.

I have a legit Win XP Pro installation, all updates done. I have Sun Java's
latest 2 platform. Most sites with JavaScript work well. cannot load applets
on any Yahoo chat servers, it says to download a more recent version of
Microsoft Java VM.

Any ideas as to why this problem is occurring?

Tried it all, still no joy.
