Java Applets

When I got this puter it had the Java Sun Applet. It was not working well
with Yahoo games. I tried to get the Microsoft Virtual machine, so I
downloaded the service pack for xp home 2, thinking I seen it would d/l it
with the update. Well...I removed the Java Sun Applet , but I made a restore
point before doing so I could d/l the Microsoft Virtual Machine instead. Well
it did not work, so i restored back before the remove of Sun Java, now when I
go to sites and try to use thier shortcuts to yahoo game lobbies it totally
closes my IE . Then I tried to d/l somemore updates but when it got to the
section to say "download now" I procedded to do so , but it knocked me back
off IE. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

MS was forced to remove VM following a patent dispute with Sun, so it is no
longer officially available.
Java can be downloaded from http://java.com/en/download/index.jsp
PS my kids have never had problems with online games / sun java
System restore doesnt work with all files/settings/apps
Depending how you removed java, you may have buggered up your
registry/settings

You should in any case have installed win updates, perhaps your pc is now
compromised since you did'nt update prior to going on line to play games.

I read something awhile back that said it was very important to
manually remove a bunch of drivers or reg settings before re-installing
sun java. You might want to do a search for that and try following a
guide for completely removing all the old crap first.
