My site has been up and functioning for a few weeks, but
seems to be tetering closer and closer to failing. Here's
a nutshell history.
1) I design and publish site no problems
2) I make numerous page changes and publish changes on a
page by page basis. No problems
3) I get my web hosting guy to install a CGI discussion
software for me (I'm still new to this) Problems now start
I can't do an overall publish anymore I can only update
page by page and image by image. On the remote site, I am
no longer listed as the author, ne is.
4) I decide the discussion software isn't acceptable and
purchase new, it is installed for me by the creator.
5) My web hosting guy (a middleman I now find out) decides
to move all his clients (including me) to a new server. He
does 99% of the move (remember I'm still a newbie and have
no clue how to publish from one remote to a different
remote) Now I have real problems.
When I try to publish I get notification about the CGI
discussion files and folders that don't exist on my local
web "Do you want to delete from remote site ?" I say no to
all. I then get message that routing has been changed by
another author and am offered choice between overwrite,
don't overwrite, or merge. No matter which choice I make
FrontPage 2003 then gives me a message "System exemption
access violation" and shuts down.
When these changes were made to my web they were done
while signed in on my password, in fact there are no other
passwords or authorized users.
How do I get back in control ?
