ive deleted a file but its still listed i want to delete it how

i have been tring for days to delete a file name from word i have already
deleted the file, i cant find how to do it, everytime i click on it it says i
may need permission

I guess you mean the deleted file is still listed on the File menu? To
get rid of a nonexisting file you can simply open files that do exist
until the dead link is pushed off the menu.

Press Ctrl+Alt+Hyphen. The mouse pointer will change to a big minus sign.
Click on the file to be removed. Note that this technique will delete ANY
MENU ITEM YOU CLICK ON, so use it carefully!
