iTunes 8.0 Can't download

Hi...I've been trying to download iTunes 8.0 and keep getting an error
message near the end of the "validating install" process that says it can't
find "itunes.msi." I've already downloaded the most current service pack 3
and still can't download iTunes. I've already spent 3 hours on the phone
with apple support with no luck. I've also tried deleting my old iTunes but
that won't delete either. I get the same error message. Any suggustions?

Download a program IZarc and run it against the iTunes package. It
will extract the individual .Msi components. Then from a Command
Prompt Window navigate to the extracted file location and type:
QuickTime.msi /Passive
ITunes.msi /Passive
Exit

IZarc download found on this page:
http://www.izarc.org/

What do you mean run it against the iTunes package? Also when I downloaded
IZarc it actually downloaded IZarc2go. Is that incorrect?

Thanks.

I already have iTunes 7.4 and I am trying to download 8.0 from the microsoft
site. Should I be downloading it to a disk and not to downloading to my PC
and then clicking "run"?

I had this problem and found that Zone Alarm blocked its download and
installation. I closed ZA and it worked fine.

Seems to be a known bug at Checkpoint.

I don't believe I have Zone Alarm on my computer. I checked the Windows
Firewall that is on my computer and iTunes is listed as an exception so I am
guessing it isn't supposed to be blocking network connections from iTunes.
Would Zone Alarm be listed as anything other than Zone Alarm or Checkpoint?

Thanks.

If by "downloading to my PC" you mean downloading to a folder, or the
desktop, then you *are* " downloading to a disk".

Not knowing which browser you are using for the download, or which site, I
can't say what might be going on. However, assuming most MS users posting
here are likely to be using Internet Explorer, I just opened up Internet
Explorer 7. And knowing that the best source of any application is direct
from the publisher's web site, I went to 'www.apple.com' and clicked on the
"Downloads" button.

MSIE 7 throws up a nice window, titled: "File Download - Security Warning",
and asks if I want to, "Run", "Save", or "Cancel". It is currently pending
until I decide what to do ...

I just clicked on the "Save" button. I figure I'll just go ahead and save it
to my collection of installers on my other computer. 4 mins. left to grab
the rest of the 65.5 MB file (as I type).

I would then just copy it from the computer where I store installation files
to the desktop of the computer I plan on installing it to, and run the
installer from the desktop.
