iTunes

Can anyone help me please?
I recently downloaded the latest version of iTunes (9) and now it seems my
PC is screwed up! I have tried to delete iTunes completely (may have caused
more harm) and now when I try to install iTunes again I get the message "The
feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable"
and also "The older version of iTunes cannot be removed. Contact your
technical Support Group". I've also tried to do a System Restore but for any
highlighted dates I get the message message that the System Restore cannot be
actioned and no changes were made to your PC".
HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A couple of options, first re-install the version of iTunes you had before
attempting a Ver 9 upgrade. If that's not possible you can use a tool called
Windows Installer Cleanup to remove all registry traces of iTunes. This is
a serious approach/tool and can cause other system issues if you don't do
it right. Actually because iTunes installer is really just a bundle of
various
..Msi modules you may have to remove accessory Apple items such as the
Bonjour networking, Apple Updater, QuickTime..

The download for Windows Installer Cleanup is:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301
*Please take the time to read the description of the tool and understand
the dangers with using it.

Thanks. Any idea why the System Restore is not now working? I've used this
feature in the past when errors occured in the past, but now any date I've
selected just isn't working. All suggestions welcome!!

System Restore has no validity checks. Just having a Restore Point
doesn't guarantee it will work. Points are "Chained". To restore a PC
backwards 3 days requires that all points leading back to that date
are useable. When System Restore fails it's best to turn SR off so
all points are removed and then re-enable SR.

Great stuff!! I've just done the Installer Cleanup and was able to re-install
iTunes and all is working perfectly. I'll also take your advice re the System
Restore.
Many many thanks for your advice, it's been a LONG day trying to solve this
issue.

Niall

In addition, security features in Norton Anti-Virus and Zone Alarm will
prevent System Restore from working.
