Using Windows XP Pro, I seem to always get an error message when
installing updates from Microsoft's Windows Update... it pops up a
message for various hardware items... Keyboard, Mouse, HdC, Volume,
etc.

The message is basically a variation of the following:

Window Title: Device Installer Error

Windows could not load the installer for Keyboard. Contact your
hardware vendor for assistance.


Anyone have any clues? I have to click ok about 14 times to install
an update and it's getting annoying!

Hi

It is sometimes better to go to the manufacture's web site for updated hardware drivers instead of using Windows Update. I haven't accepted any of the hardware drivers offered via WU for a long time.

Have you had a look at the following link for any error messages that you may be receiving:
