It takes time...

My WinXP Pro takes a very long time to start up - to get to the point where
I can start any of my programmes.
The PC is whirring and clicking and working its heart out - doing what?
What should I look for - and where?

Regards,
Per Odegaard.

I do not know when you buy,
in your case i think, maybe your harddisk has a problem so when windows
starts, it is hardly to load data to RAM so it took along time.
or maybe your RAM has a problem.
I think, you should ask your friend on computer science help you so
solve it. or you can take it to the repair shop where they can fix it
for you.

If ur HD is making sounds, back up to be on the safe side.
check if the fans thts clogged with dust and not working properly. If
so clean out the case. Run a disk cleanup and defragment the drive as
it puts a lot of stress on ur drive if its choked with junk and
cluttered. Also disable stuff u dont need loading at boot. This shud
speed it up. Add more RAM if needed.
