16-bit prog problems

P

Per Odegaard

Hi.

I use a 16-bit Windows programme every dag, but after I've started it, I
have to right-click on the desktop to make it work.
If I don't, the screen will blacken and will not return regardless of what
actions I take.
The only way out is to reboot.

The OS is WinXP Pro/SP2 and I've got 512 MB of RAM.

I have scanned the HD drives using the latest anti-virus definitions, and
the PC has been checked with Spybot.

Can somebody please suggest what's wrong?

Regards,
Per Ødegaard.

See the link for DOSBox on this page:

There's a bit of a learning curve but it's nice when you get past it.

This does not apply to my problem as the 16-bit programme seems to function
even if the monitor goes black.
I have noticed though that if I rightclick on the desktop - immediately
after starting the old programme - the DOS windows will not show, and
everything is hunky-dory.
Is there a way - through commands in my startup BAT file - of stopping DOS
windows from popping up?

Cheers,
Per Ø.
