It opens for a second then closes! Had to install netscape just to get online

I have had nothing but problems since I dl a IE update and
installed it. Uninstalling the update didn't fix the
problem! I double click on my desktop shortcut to IE and
it opens briefly then shuts back down again! Outlook
express works fine. I had to install netscape nav just to
get online again. Any clues???
