It is busy

I unplugged my PC and modem because there was a storm
coming. After it pasted I plugged every thing back in and
now a get the message. That "It is busy or another devise
is using it" and I cannot get on line.

rebooting may not be enough. In some cases it's necessary to
power down the computer and the modem, wait 5 seconds, then
power up the computer, then power up the modem.

Recheck the cables and ports. Some computers have two serial
ports. If you reconnected it to a different one, that could
explain the problem. Using the wrong cable could also explain
it.

During your unplugging and re-plugging the cable may have
broken. The modem itself could simply have failed. When you
switch it on, do you see the power light illuminated? When you
try to dial, does any other light illuminate?

Can you take the modem to a friend or to your dealer and have it
tested?

Or has the problem meanwhile been solved or solved itself?
