It gets better and better

So, I can't figure out what is causing 5 of my 6 hard drive icons in
My Computer to revert to the basic unknown icon. I put a new hard
drive in my system and make a back up XP hard drive. When I booted it
up, the icon problem was still there. So the problem isn't with my
operating system. Yet, when I boot in Safe Mode with my regular hard
drive, the icons revert to normal. What is going on?

Usually a video card problem. I had this before and in Safe Mode, the icons
where always correct.
