ISSUES w/ VISTA

Guest

I've played with VISTA for about a week, and here are the issues I have with
it:

1. Doesn't not automatically connect to home wireless networks. I have to
manual connect my home wireless network every time I boot up my laptop,
hopefully this will be fixed prior to the final release

2. When I upgraded my XP professional to VISTA is took 3 hours to complete,
3 hours, you have got to be kidding me. 3 hours? That's ridiculous.

3. Since I play a lot of games...well none of the EA sports games work on
VISTA.

I am uninstalling vista

Hi Chris,
1. Doesn't not automatically connect to home wireless networks. I have

Have you bugged this? Have you checked for updated drivers for your wireless
card? Does the manufacturer even provide them yet?
2. When I upgraded my XP professional to VISTA is took 3 hours to
complete,

The code has not been optimized for performance yet, that is one of the last
steps prior to going gold. First they need to get the bugs out. Betas are
NOT release versions, they're slow, they don't always do what you think they
are going to do, they are not ready for use in a production environment. If
you installed it expecting it to be, then I hate to be the bearer of bad
news but this is what beta trials are about.
3. Since I play a lot of games...well none of the EA sports games work on
VISTA.

Well, that'd be EA's fault, they haven't patched their software to work in
Vista. Be aware that many software vendors don't fix programs to run in
newer OS's, they usually would rather sell you an updated compatible version
instead. There's no profit in supporting and patching older software.

'Tis your right.

That's actually something that happens in XP too. I experience that with my
work laptop occassionally when switching between my home network and office
network.

I didn't do an upgrade, I did a clean install, but this is a beta, so it's
expected to not work perfectly right now.

Again, this is a beta, and the games were not tested or made for Vista, so
this can be expected.

Why uninstall it now just when you are getting the hang of bug finding?
You're doing a great job, don't give up now. Microsoft is looking for
feedback just such as yours.

Unless of course you disregarded all the warnings and instructions about not
installing it in place of your primary system.

Go into settings for the connection for your wireless. Autoconnect is not
the default. Check the right box and it will autoconnect.

Took me all of 30 seconds to find.

did you complain to EA Sports about it. I did the more people who do the
better off we are.
