Issues Login on

I had a problem with Active Directory that caused it to get corupt as the C
drive was too full, anyway i fixed this and restored active directory from a
backup and everything was fine. However a couple of machines can log on to
the network saying that the domain controller wont allow them to. Ive tried
logging on to the network on a machine that is working fine and they have no
problems, so it cant be the user account and only leaves the computer
account. Also if i log on to the domain with no network cable plugged in and
then plug the network cable in after it works fine.

Is there anyway to sort this?

I'm guessing the password on the machine accounts was changed from when you
restored AD. Probably the easiest thing to do is just remove the
workstations from the domain and rejoin them.

The reason you can log onto the domain with the connection unplugged is
because cached credentials have the old password as the proper account. You
shouldn't be able to access any resource other than something the Everyone
group has access too.

I tried removing the computer from the domain and deleting the workstation
account on the server then rejoining, but i keep getting an error saying the
domain cant be contacted.

I had to end up reinstalling another machine that the exact same problem
happened too, but think this is a bit extreme. Would there be any other
reason.

The password has definitely not been updated since the backup was put on.

You wouldn't really know if the machine password changed this is all done
automatically.

How is the dns defined on the workstation? Is it the exact same way as
other machines that are working?

Yeah everything is the same, the dns is set to the same IP as the the active
directory server, which is also the dns server.

I also managed to log in without the cable plugged in and then change my
password which also worked, after rebooting it still comes up with the
message saying that the server wont let you log on.
